 Flexible Education Program for WHCCISD

Hello Oiler Family,

We are in the middle of an extraordinary situation because of the health threat from the coronavirus.  It is a challenge unlike any we have faced before. But, so was Hurricane Harvey at the time. And we came together as a community and not only survived Harvey, but came out stronger on the other side. We will meet this current challenge together and do the same.

So, how are we going to have school without the school buildings? Thanks to the work of a lot of folks, we have a plan.  And we need your help to execute that plan.

We have developed a Flexible Education Program (FEP) that involves both our instructional and food service programs.  We will use the FEP while we are not able to implement our traditional programs on campus. We are going to have school and feed students in the best way we can.

The FEP general information is listed below.

1)    At this time the FEP will be in place until April 3rd.  We will reevaluate our situation on Friday, April 3rd for the next week.  We will reevaluate every Friday thereafter for the next week.

2)    More specific information about the delivery of school work will be provided by the campus principal and/or teacher by the end of this week.

3)    We are investigating the possibility of remote “hot spots” for various locations in our communities.  Stay tuned.

4)    Starting Wednesday, March 18, 2020 until further notice, teachers and most staff will not report to campus but will work remotely.

5)    We will have a skeleton crew on campus at designated times.  Otherwise staff will not be on campus.

6)    Initially, we will provide drive-thru food service at the high school for breakfast and lunch as follows:

a.     Trial runs will be Thursday and Friday of this week at the times listed below; after that

b.    Monday – Friday

c.     Breakfast 7:30 – 8:30

d.    Lunch 10:30 – 12:00

e.     All children 18 and under and their accompanying adult are eligible for meals

f.      All meals are free to all children their accompanying adult

g.    Child or accompanying adult may pick up

h.    Meals will be grab and go

i.      Meals will meet USDA guidelines

7)    All extracurricular and after school activities are suspended until further notice

8)    All community after school activities are suspended until further notice

9)    The FEP is subject to change.

10)                    More specific information will be provided by the campus principal and/or teacher by the end of this week.

Thank you for your support and flexibility!
